Sniper Elite: Operation Kraken, the new expansion for Rebellion's hidden-movement war game, drags the series' deadly game of hide-and-seek out towards the Atlantic, and it lands just in time for Gen Con. The expansion is up for pre-order now at GBP 40 (around $54) and will be playable on the show floor when Gen Con opens on 30 July.

See how it worksIf you have not played Sniper Elite: The Board Game, the pitch is a lopsided duel. One player takes Allied marksman Karl Fairburne, picking targets from the shadows, while up to three others control German squads torn between guarding their base and hunting the sniper down. It is the work of David Thompson, co-designer of the acclaimed Undaunted series and War Chest, alongside Roger Tankersley.
Operation Kraken hangs on a suitably pulpy plot: the Axis are readying an experimental super carrier to cross the Atlantic, and it falls to Fairburne to find the plans or slip aboard and wreck the thing from the inside. The box brings two new maps and fresh abilities for both sides. The ruined Norman Village adds armoured cars that prowl the streets and give the defenders real teeth, while a second map sends the fight aboard the Super Carrier itself, where the sniper has to stow away and sabotage the ship across its decks. You will need a copy of the base game to play.
