See how it worksSmoking Bones is an original world set in an alternate Northern Europe, a place called the Northlands where magic is woven into everyday life. The setting follows Captain Red Jones and the Smoking Bones Travel Company, which takes people on adventures through magical places. Bosley has been developing the world through illustrated travel guide books (the first, set on the island of Brandimir, was a Kickstarter success), and the lore has clearly been simmering for years.
Stonemaier Games announced that the first Smoking Bones board game arrives in Q4 2026. Details are sparse, as Stegmaier is saving the full reveal for closer to launch, but we know it will be a medium-to-heavy eurogame with engine building and airships, designed by a debut designer working alongside Bosley. Stonemaier has committed to publishing "a series of games" in the Smoking Bones world, so this first title could be the start of something much larger.
