If you've ever wandered through one of Meow Wolf's immersive walk-through art experiences and thought "this would make an incredible RPG," you were right, and someone has already made it. TAVERS: The Meow Wolf Roleplaying Game from Exalted Funeral closes its Kickstarter campaign today, having raised over $176,000 from more than 1,400 backers, comfortably tripling its $50,000 goal.
TAVERS is a rules-light, narrative-driven RPG where players are interdimensional travellers who tap into the Source, a raw creative energy that lets them open portals between bizarre worlds and bend reality. Resolution uses just two custom eight-sided dice called Ossahedrals, but most encounters are handled through collaborative storytelling. A group memory system called MEMs provides a constantly shifting skill set built from shared tale-weaving, and your inventory fits onto your character sheet like a spatial puzzle. It's approachable enough for RPG newcomers while offering plenty of creative depth for veterans.
The game was developed by Exalted Funeral, a prominent indie RPG publisher and retailer whose store carries acclaimed titles like MORK BORG and Mothership, in collaboration with Meow Wolf. It features 100% human-created art, with pledge tiers ranging from a $25 digital-only option up to a $65 Quantum Parabox containing the core rulebook, custom dice, tokens, and character sheets.
With the campaign wrapping up today and fulfilment estimated for December 2026, this is your last chance to back it at campaign prices.
