River Valley Jewelcraft Brings Gem-Crafting to Kickstarter

The team behind River Valley Glassworks is back with a bigger, bolder follow-up. River Valley Jewelcraft lands on Kickstarter on 28 April, bringing the same cosy, tactile design philosophy to a new world of underground gem mining.

Designed by Adam Hill, Ben Pinchback, and Matt Riddle, the trio behind Glassworks, Jewelcraft casts players as burrowing critters digging through mines to gather gems and craft jewellery. It's a dice-driven game for one to five players that runs about 60 minutes, stepping up from Glassworks' breezy 20-minute sessions into meatier territory.

River Valley Glassworks was a quiet hit for Allplay, sitting at a respectable 7.3 on BoardGameGeek with praise for its clever drafting and gorgeous production quality. Reviewers called it "fast, fun, and adorable" with tactile pieces that made the simple puzzle feel premium. Jewelcraft looks to build on that foundation while offering a deeper experience.

The art is in safe hands. Andrew Bosley, the illustrator behind Everdell, Tapestry, and the upcoming Everdell Emerland, is handling the visuals. If Glassworks was already pretty, Jewelcraft should look gorgeous.

Pinchback and Riddle have been designing together for over a decade, with hits like Fleet, Fleet: The Dice Game, and Three Sisters under their belts. Hill joined the team for Glassworks and the trio now collaborate through Motor City Gameworks alongside their work with Allplay.

If you liked Glassworks and want something with a bit more crunch, or you're simply a sucker for Andrew Bosley's artwork (no judgement), mark 28 April in your calendar.
