Cyberpunk TCG Raises Over $13 Million on Kickstarter, Smashing Trading Card Game Records

The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game has blown past $13 million on Kickstarter with over 17,000 backers, making it the most-funded trading card game in the platform's history. The campaign launched on 17th March with a $100,000 goal that was obliterated in five minutes.

Developed by WeirdCo in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, the game brings Night City to the tabletop with characters from Cyberpunk 2077 and the Edgerunners anime. But this is not just a licensed cash-grab. The gameplay does something genuinely different.

Instead of chipping away at a health pool like Magic: The Gathering, you are fighting over dice. Players roll dice each turn to earn "Gigs" and build Street Cred, which lets you play more powerful cards. The twist is that attacking lets you steal your opponent's dice rather than deal damage. You need six completed Gigs to win, so every stolen die shifts the balance of power. Head designer Richard Zapp says this ensures "no two games feel the same."

There are also three hidden Legend cards that start face-down, adding a layer of bluffing and surprise. Think of it like a Commander-style colour restriction system, but with built-in hidden information that keeps matches unpredictable.

The debut set, Welcome to Night City, features iconic characters including V, Jackie Welles, Johnny Silverhand, and Judy Alvarez. WeirdCo has mapped out over five years of new mechanics and themes, so this is clearly not a one-and-done release.

The campaign runs until 18th April, with first-wave shipping planned for Q3 2026. Whether you are a Cyberpunk fan, a TCG enthusiast, or just curious about the dice-stealing mechanic, this one is worth a look.
