Pathfinder Impossible Magic Launches at GenCon with Four New Classes

While D&D's 2026 release calendar sits conspicuously quiet, Paizo is charging ahead with one of Pathfinder's biggest rulebooks yet. Pathfinder Impossible Magic debuts at GenCon on July 30, bringing four classes, over 240 spells, and a raft of new archetypes to Second Edition.

The four classes are the Magus, Necromancer, Runesmith, and Summoner. Three of them return from First Edition with significant reworks for the Remaster rules (Paizo's ongoing revision of the system following their move away from the OGL), and the Runesmith is entirely new, scribing magical inscriptions onto allies and enemies alike. The Necromancer generated plenty of excitement during playtesting, partly because you can detonate your own exploding zombies. If that sentence does not sell you on this book, nothing will.

Beyond the classes, the book packs in "impossible spells" powerful enough to scar the soul (Paizo's words), new arcane schools drawn from the Impossible Lands setting, fantastical archetypes, and magical items that let non-casters dip into magic. Authors Joshua Birdsong and Logan Bonner led the project, with over 40 contributors involved.

The hardcover retails at $69.99, with pocket, sketch, and special leather-bound editions also available. A companion book, Lost Omens: High Seas, arrives around the same window for groups looking to take their campaigns to Golarion's coasts.

For Pathfinder groups, this is the big one for the first half of 2026. Four classes and 240 spells should keep character builders busy for months.
