The League of Legends trading card game is getting its biggest set yet. Riftbound: Unleashed launches in the UK and the rest of the West on Friday 8 May, capping a Pre-Rift week of organised play that runs 1 to 7 May at participating shops.

Start organising for freeThe expansion brings over 220 cards plus 30 alternate-art versions, a chunky boost on the Vendetta tease earlier this year. Theme-wise it's all jungle. The four new Champion Legends are Kha'Zix the Voidreaver, Lillia the Bashful Bloom, Diana the Scorn of the Moon and Ivern the Green Father, each tied into one of three new keyword mechanics.
Ambush lets you slam a unit down as a reaction to your opponent moving into a battlefield where you've already got cards. XP is a slow-burn resource: you bank it through play and burn it for big level-up payoffs, with Kha'Zix as the poster boy. Hunt rewards aggressive play, dropping XP onto your champion every time it conquers or holds a battlefield. Ivern's twist is wild on its own, swapping out a battlefield he wins for a Brush token that buffs every bird, cat, dog, poro and Ivern by +1 might.

Baron Nashor is the inaugural Ultimate card and appears in fewer than 0.1% of packs, with a maximum of one per pack. Riot has confirmed Ultimates will not appear in every set going forward, which should keep the secondary market interesting.
If you've been waiting for an in to Riftbound, Pre-Rift week is the soft landing. Most participating UK shops will run sealed events with promo cards, and tournament structure ramps up with Summoner Skirmishes on 25 May and 22 June.
