Legends of Avantris launched Neon Odyssey on Kickstarter on Tuesday, and within 24 hours the space opera trilogy had pulled in over $5 million from D&D fans, making it the most-funded D&D Kickstarter of all time. The campaign blew past its $60,000 goal in under a minute and crossed $2.25 million in its first hour.

See how it worksAvantris built the publishing arm releasing this book on the back of The Crooked Moon, their 632-page folk horror supplement that raised $4 million in 2023 and held the previous D&D Kickstarter record. Neon Odyssey ships for 5.5e at over 1,400 pages across three books. The Outrunner's Handbook covers players, the Cosmic Codex lays out the Stardust Rhapsody campaign setting, and the Overdrive Expansion bundles optional rules for everything from podracing to bounty hunting. Inside you'll find 40 subclasses and 30 species to pick from, over 300 alien monsters to throw at parties, plus starship combat rules built specifically for D&D groups.
The team describes the tone as "fully space opera with a heavy coat of nostalgic paint and neon vibes," pointing to Cowboy Bebop and Star Wars as touchstones. More than a hundred writers, artists and designers worked on the trilogy.
