Monopoly: RuneScape Edition Brings Gielinor to the Board

RuneScape turns 25 this year, and Jagex is marking the milestone in the most tabletop way imaginable: a full RuneScape edition of Monopoly, with pre-orders open now ahead of an October release. For anyone who spent their teens grinding levels in Gielinor, this one hits a very specific nostalgia nerve.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

See how it works

Made in partnership with Hasbro and Winning Moves, Monopoly: RuneScape Edition swaps Mayfair and Old Kent Road for the MMO's most famous haunts. You buy up spots from Lumbridge and Varrock to the eerie mists of Canifis and the crystal city of Prifddinas, claim landmarks like Port Sarim and the Blue Moon Inn, and lean on your Construction skill to raise houses (player-owned houses, naturally) and upgrade them into castles. You earn GP as you go, collecting tips from players who stop off to use your gilded altars, while RuneScape-themed random events stand in for the usual Chance and Community Chest cards.

There are six themed tokens to squabble over, including Bob the Cat, a cabbage, a party hat and a dragon boot, which is about as RuneScape a line-up as you could hope for. It is the sort of in-joke-heavy licensed release that lives or dies on the details, and the details here look lovingly chosen.

The set costs £49.99 (about $59.99) and is up for pre-order through the official RuneScape merch store, shipping in October 2026 as part of Jagex's year-long 25th anniversary celebrations. The Cambridge studio has said it wants to bring Gielinor to fans in more ways than ever, so this may not be the last crossover. If your group has a soft spot for the old grind, it is a brilliant excuse to gather everyone round a table, so round up your party on Backseat Gamer.
