Modi Case Stuffs 700+ Tabletop Storage STLs Into a Hinged Box

Anyone who has ever staged a Gloomhaven session out of a giant plastic tub knows the real enemy at the table isn't the monsters, it's the boxes. Mod Innovations launched Modi Case on BackerKit on 12 May 2026, a 3D-printable storage system designed to ditch the tubs entirely. The lid folds open like a tackle box and exposes everything inside, so the cards, dice and minis you actually need are all visible without rummaging.

The studio's last campaign, Modi Boxi in 2024, raised over $400,000 from more than 7,000 backers and was widely praised for shipping STLs that printed cleanly on consumer FDM machines without supports or glue. Modi Case keeps the same approach: every piece bolts together with a twist-and-lock fastener system Mod Innovations calls Modi Bolt, and the new parts are back-compatible with anything you already printed from Modi Boxi.

The bundle ships with more than 700 STL files covering mini storage, card racks, dice trays, DM screens with integrated drawers, board-game-specific inserts and even painting workstations. That's a lot of breadth, though the practical pitch is closer to 'a system that adapts to your collection' than '700 totally distinct designs'. You print what you need.

It's clearly aimed at the people who already organise game nights and lug bags of board games to the venue, alongside D&D DMs and miniature painters. Early backers pay $1 to reserve a slot at a discounted pledge tier; the campaign closes on 16 June 2026. If you're already heading to an event with three rucksacks of stuff, this is one fewer thing to lose at the bottom of the boot.
