The Kronologic deduction games ask you to work out who did it and where. The newest one adds a third question that only a sci-fi setting could get away with: when. Hachette Boardgames has revealed Kronologic: Babylon 2500, a futuristic entry in the pocket-sized mystery series from Fabien Gridel and Yoann Levet, the pair behind the fiendish logic-puzzle hit Turing Machine.

See how it worksIf you have not tried a Kronologic before, it is a small-box game of pure deduction for 1 to 4 players that plays in about half an hour. You quiz a cast of suspects who each move along a fixed timeline, then cross-reference where everyone was to corner your culprit, all without a scrap of luck involved. The series launched with Kronologic: Paris 1920 at SPIEL Essen 2024 and drew a warm reception from puzzle fans, with a second setting, Cuzco 1450, following later.
Babylon 2500 is the third case file, and its time-travel premise reshapes the whole puzzle. Now you have to pin down not just who and where but when the crime happened, since suspects can hop between eras. Characters take over from locations as the key clues, with symbol sequences to untangle, and the designers say they have deliberately cranked the difficulty for returning solvers. Each box packs three mysteries, each with several solutions at rising levels of challenge.
