Brandon Sanderson's sprawling Cosmere is getting a card game to call its own. Brotherwise Games has confirmed that Shards of Creation, a trick-taking game set in Sanderson's interconnected fantasy universe, will be one of its headline reveals at Gen Con 2026, and fans can buy it on the show floor before it reaches shops.

Find events near youIf you have read the Mistborn or Stormlight Archive novels, the Cosmere needs no introduction. For everyone else, it is the shared universe that ties most of Sanderson's fantasy together, and its official tabletop line has become one of the hobby's hottest licences. Brotherwise's Cosmere RPG, built on the studio's Plotweaver system and billed by the studio as record-breaking, showed how much appetite is out there. Alongside the Mistborn deckbuilder already on shelves, Shards of Creation marks the first time the Cosmere has been turned into a trick-taking game.
Trick-taking is having a real moment on tabletops, so a Cosmere spin on the genre lands at a good time. Brotherwise has not shown the full rules yet, but the idea is simple enough: play the right cards and time your suits to take the tricks that count.

See how it worksThere is a heftier reveal beside it. Stormlight: War for Roshar is an epic wargame from designer John D Clair, whose well-liked Brotherwise game Empire's End squeezed real tension out of a single clever bidding twist. War for Roshar takes him from empire-building to the battlefields of Roshar, and it is heading to Kickstarter in the autumn.
Gen Con opens on 30 July. If the books have you itching to get a group together, find a game night near you and make room for the Cosmere.
