Find events near youThe clever part is the engine underneath. Battle for the Spotlight is built on Love Letter, Seiji Kanai's tiny deduction classic where you draw one card, play one card, and try to read what everyone else is holding. Here, co-designed by Kanai and Waleed Ma'arouf, that quick push-and-bluff format becomes a tug-of-war for the crowd. Two teams of 2 to 6 players take the side of either HUNTR/X or the rival Saja Boys and fight over the audience, with each character card triggering a different ability.
Games run about 15 minutes, so it is the kind of filler you can teach in a minute and play five times in a row. If your group has been quoting the film since it landed, it is an obvious pick for a casual evening, and a gentle on-ramp for people who would never normally sit down to a "proper" board game.

Love Letter has spun off into dozens of themed editions over the years, and bolting a breakout Netflix property onto a proven, beginner-friendly system is the sort of thing that ends up in plenty of Christmas stockings. Battle for the Spotlight lands in October. Round up your group for a game night and settle who really runs the Honmoon.
