Hasbro's cyberattack, first detected on 28 March, has now stretched into a second week with no clear end in sight. The company filed an 8-K breach notification with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 1 April, confirming unauthorised access to its corporate network and warning that recovery could take "several weeks."
The concerning part for gamers is what Hasbro has not said. The company confirmed it is "continuing to implement measures to secure its business operations," which security professionals widely interpret as corporate language for the attackers potentially still being inside the network. No extortion group has publicly claimed responsibility so far, though the attack's characteristics suggest possible ransomware involvement.
On the practical side, Hasbro says it remains open for business. Magic: The Gathering shipments went out on schedule this week, and the company is processing orders globally using manual backup systems and interim procedures. That said, some delays are expected while those workarounds remain in place.
For board gamers and collectors, the immediate concern is whether upcoming releases stay on track. Hasbro has not disclosed whether any customer data was compromised, and its investigation into the full scope of the breach is still ongoing. The company has not provided a specific timeline for returning to normal operations.
