Heroscape just got a lot more explosive. Renegade Game Studios and Hasbro have launched G.I. Joe Heroscape into retail, bringing eight iconic characters from the Real American Hero franchise into the hex-based terrain-building miniatures game. The Rumble at the Rift Battle Box landed in stores on March 16 alongside three army expansions.
The battle box packs Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, and Snake Eyes on the Joe side against COBRA Commander, Destro, Storm Shadow, and Doctor Mindbender. All figures come fully assembled and highly detailed, with modular hex terrain, COBRA fortifications, dice, and everything needed to play. Three companion expansions add Baroness, Lady Jaye, the Crimson Twins, a COBRA Flight Pod, and a Greenshirts squad with Battle Copter, giving army builders plenty to get started.
For anyone who missed the original, Heroscape launched in 2004 under Milton Bradley as a terrain-building miniatures game where samurai, robots, dragons, and superheroes could all fight on the same battlefield. It built a devoted community before being discontinued in 2010. Renegade revived it in 2024 with Heroscape: Age of Annihilation after Hasbro's own HasLab attempt fell short in 2022, and the revival has been picking up steam since. The G.I. Joe crossover is the first licensed IP expansion in Renegade's revival of the franchise, and it's fully compatible with every existing Heroscape set.
Both standard unpainted ($65 battle box) and limited premium painted ($85) editions are available. The painted edition means no assembly or painting required before you play. If building a battlefield where Snake Eyes takes on a dragon sounds like your kind of evening, you know what to do.
