Frog Tower Is a 15-Minute Push-Your-Luck Card Game

Every group needs a filler that lives permanently in the bag, and Frog Tower is angling for the slot. Good Games Publishing is putting the card game into shops at $12.99, and a full game runs about 15 minutes.

The rules barely need a page. On your turn you flip frogs from a shared pond of cards, trying to gather different colours. Keep flipping and you keep collecting, but the moment the frogs you turn over match colours, your turn ends and the pond gets rearranged. Frogs you bank stack into towers, and towers of mixed colours score points. Assemble a tower where every frog matches, though, and you win outright.

That instant win is what lifts it above the usual press-your-luck fare. Most games in this space punish greed and stop there. Frog Tower holds out a way for greed to end the game on the spot, which changes how hard you push when the player to your left is one flip from taking it.

The design is not brand new, just newly translated. It began life in Japan as カエルタワー, published in 2024 by Brekeke Games and SUNNY BIRD with artwork by Jyujin Ohtsubo, and it has sat quietly on BoardGameGeek since. ICv2 reports the English edition is credited to Mirei and URiO, plays three to five, and is pitched at ages 8 and up.

For anyone who runs a regular session, that is a useful shape. Cheap enough to buy on a whim, fast enough to fill the gap while the last two people find parking, and simple enough to teach without anyone opening a rulebook. If you need a table to try it on, find a game night near you.
