Few games get a table cheering quite like Kabuto Sumo, the coin-pushing beetle brawler where you flick and shove wooden discs to knock your rivals' bugs out of the ring. Now it has a rowdy new spin-off, and this time you are throwing dice. Kabuto Sumo Dice is live on Kickstarter and has already smashed past 1,300% of its goal.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksThe original Kabuto Sumo, from studio Allplay, made its name as a dexterity game: you push wooden discs into a crowded arena and try to force your opponents over the edge. It became a game-night favourite for being dead simple to teach and instantly funny to watch. Kabuto Sumo Dice keeps the same last-bug-standing energy but swaps the coin-pushing for hurling dice into a 3D arena, either to physically knock opponents out or to roll the right combination of pips to pin them down.
It plays 2 to 4 players, ages 6 and up, in a brisk 15 to 25 minutes, and each insect wrestler comes with its own signature moves. The bright, chunky artwork is once again by Kwanchai Moriya, a familiar hand across Allplay's catalogue. The campaign launched on 7 July 2026 and has raised over $133,000 from backers so far.
Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.
Start organising for freeIf you want a quick, loud, family-friendly filler that works just as well with kids as it does at the end of a heavy games night, this is an easy one to back. Best of all, the whole thing packs down small enough to bring along to your next meetup. Round up some challengers and find a game night near you.
