Free Gaming Day Hits London as Dragonmeet Call to Adventure Returns 18 April

If you're in London next Saturday and have never rolled a d20, this is your chance. Dragonmeet: Call to Adventure returns to Kensington Town Hall on 18 April for a full day of free tabletop gaming aimed at newcomers and families.

Got a regular group? Create a private community, poll for the best date, vote on games, and let your friends RSVP in one place.

Last year's Call to Adventure drew over 500 attendees, including 150 under-16s, making it one of the biggest free gaming events in the capital. The event is backed by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster City Council, who have invested over £25,000 in board games for local libraries as part of a growing commitment to tabletop gaming.

Thirty providers from across the UK will be running sessions. Chaosium is bringing drop-in demos of Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, Pendragon, and Rivers of London. Beyond RPGs, expect board game tables, miniature painting workshops, family games, and puzzles throughout the day.

Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm. While it's free, organisers recommend booking tickets early since last year sold out.

Both councils now run regular tabletop gaming sessions at local libraries through their joint Games Library programme, so this is part of a broader push to make the hobby accessible across London. If you're bringing a group or want to organise your own game night afterwards, the venue is a short walk from High Street Kensington station.
