Fallout: Power Play Brings Wasteland Strategy for Under 25 Quid

Fallout: Power Play from Modiphius Entertainment is now on UK and European shelves, and it might be the most affordable way to fight over the Wasteland this year. At just £23 (around $30), this compact card game for 2-4 players fits in a magnetic-closure box you can toss in a bag on the way to game night.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

See how it works

Designed by Resurrectionist Games (the studio behind the Doom Arena Board Game), Power Play puts each player in charge of one of four factions: the Brotherhood of Steel, Raiders, the Enclave, or Super Mutants. Each faction plays differently, with unique special rules that shape your strategy from the first turn. You'll deploy Agents to contested Wasteland locations, complete Quests for bonuses, and play Power Play cards to disrupt your opponents' plans. First to 10 Victory Points wins.

What keeps things unpredictable is the Wasteland deck. Every turn, a random Wasteland card flips, introducing anything from a rampaging Deathclaw to sudden nuclear fallout. These swings mean no two games play out the same way, and they stop any one player from running away with the game unchallenged.

Early reviews have been warm. CBR's Jennifer Melzer called it "easy to learn" but "challenging as it is fun to play," praising the Art Deco card design and the way each faction feels distinct. For Fallout fans who want something lighter than the sprawling Cyberpunk 2077 board game or the hefty Wasteland Warfare miniatures line, Power Play fills a gap. Quick setup, fast rounds, and enough teeth to keep experienced players interested.

If you've been looking for a gateway game to bring a Fallout fan into the hobby, this is a strong shout. Modiphius has been quietly building one of the best licensed-game catalogues in tabletop, and Power Play shows they can do compact just as well as epic.
