Season 2 keeps the quick, family-friendly feel of the original but brings in fresh faces, including aquatic creatures and sporty types, plus a new Return mechanic that changes how cards leave and re-enter play. It runs 1 to 4 players on its own, and if you already own the first FlipToons you can shuffle the two together for a table of up to eight.
There is decent pedigree here. Season 2 is designed by Jordy Adan and Renato Simões with art by Diego Sá, and Adan is the designer behind Cartographers, Thunderworks' hit flip-and-write set in the Roll Player universe. Thunderworks has built a name on approachable, well-produced games, and at around £15 ($19.95) a standalone that scales to eight players is an easy pickup for a games night or a family holiday.
