Dragon Overload Sends Rival Dragons to War in 15 Minutes

When game night runs long and you want a quick two-player scrap between the heavier boxes, a short duel earns its keep. Lookout Games has one lined up: Dragon Overload, a 15-minute card game for two where rival players send dragons to seize control of five contested areas. It arrives in August 2026 as the newest entry in Lookout's Games for Two line.

Designed by Jay Bendixen with art from Nele Diel, Dragon Overload has you take turns sending out mighty dragons to conquer five home areas. The catch, according to Lookout Games, is doing it "without letting these powerful creatures become too overconfident," so claiming the majority becomes a balancing act rather than a straight land-grab. It plays in about 15 minutes for two players, aged 8 and up, which puts it firmly in filler territory rather than the all-evening commitment its dragon theme might suggest. Bendixen is a familiar name at the studio, having also co-designed this year's cosy release Gretchen's Garden.

Lookout is one of the Asmodee studios lining up new titles for Gen Con 2026, which runs from 30 July to 2 August in Indianapolis, so early copies should surface there before the game reaches shops.

See how it works

For anyone who keeps a two-player shelf, another compact area-control duel is easy to welcome, and 15 minutes is short enough to squeeze in before the main event comes out. If Dragon Overload catches your eye, line up an opponent for game night and see who ends up ruling the skies.
