If your table likes its strategy with a side of geopolitics, World Order is arriving this week. It is the new heavyweight from Hegemonic Project, the studio behind the acclaimed 2023 politico-economic game Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory, and it is reaching retail alongside a second Gamefound wave.
Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.
Start organising for freeWorld Order casts two to four players as the United States, China, Russia or the European Union, jockeying for global influence in a world loosely set around 2010 as American dominance starts to slip. Rather than a straight wargame, it mixes area control with deck-building. Each superpower plays from its own Dominance Deck with distinct strengths and weaknesses, and you push your agenda through diplomacy, economic muscle and military force. Games run long, roughly two to three hours, so this is one for a dedicated evening rather than a quick filler.
The campaign did serious numbers. Hegemonic Project says World Order pulled in over €2,000,000 across its Kickstarter and Gamefound runs from more than 13,000 backers, comfortable proof that heavy political sims still have an audience. Two expansions land alongside it. World in Turmoil folds in real events like the pandemic, Brexit and the war in Ukraine, while Diplomacy & Dominance adds full solo play through an Automa system for when you can't get four people round the table.
Got a regular group? Create a private community, poll for the best date, vote on games, and let your friends RSVP in one place.
