Fans of cosy, bird-themed games have another one to keep an eye on. Feather Lane is a card game about designing a neighbourhood that birds actually want to live in, and it is part of the 2026 lineup Last Night Games revealed on 18 July.

See how it worksYou build your lane by adding cards to your streets, trying to satisfy the fussy tastes of your feathered residents. The twist is a deck of 40 community preference cards that decide what counts as a des-res each game, so the puzzle shifts every time you sit down. It is designed by Nate and Jake Jenne for two to six players, ages 10 and up, and runs about 30 minutes for $34.95 (around £27). The pitch is gentle rules over a properly thinky core, the sweet spot a lot of gateway-plus games have chased since Wingspan made birds a board-gaming staple.
Feather Lane has no connection to Wingspan, but it is fishing in the same pond: a small footprint, a nature theme and a scoring puzzle you can teach in a couple of minutes. With the 40 preference cards reshuffling what your birds want each session, it is built for the group that keeps a game in rotation rather than playing it once and shelving it. It is due in 2026 with the rest of the studio's slate, and no UK release date has been set yet.
