Cry Havoc Remaster Closes Kickstarter Tonight at £47K Raised

Footsore Miniatures and Games' Kickstarter for the remastered Cry Havoc closes today, 3 May 2026, with the classic 1981 British wargame already past £47,739 from 757 backers. That is more than 318% of the £15,000 goal, an average pledge of £63, and one final push for anyone who wanted in but lost track of the dates.

Cry Havoc is the man-to-man medieval skirmish wargame that introduced a generation of UK gamers to the hobby in the 1980s. Originally designed by Gary Chalk and Tony Webster for British publisher Standard Games, it pitched two players into 13th-century skirmishes with knights, sergeants, billmen and peasants, on hand-drawn maps that still hold up. The system spawned Siege, Samurai Blades, Outremer and Viking Raiders, and original copies still turn up at car boot sales and convention bring-and-buys.

Gary Chalk himself, the artist who illustrated the early Lone Wolf gamebooks and contributed to HeroQuest and Talisman, is back on art duties for the remaster. Footsore says the new edition keeps the original rules and counters fully compatible with 1981 boxes, so you can mix old maps with the new graphics on one table. New illustrations and a tidier layout are the headline upgrades, with the campaign delivering to backers in June 2026.
