If you've ever wanted to deploy a capital ship the size of your fist onto a board game, your moment has arrived. EVE: War for New Eden, the 4X strategy board game adapted from CCP's long-running MMO, is getting its first major expansion this month.
The Titan Expansion, designed by Kuba Sawka and Roman Lakomiak, introduces colossal capital ships that players physically assemble during the game. Rather than dropping a pre-built miniature onto the board, you construct your Titan piece by piece in a remote shipyard, allocating resources to modules as the game progresses. Once complete, the ship deploys with powerful combat abilities that can be further enhanced through research.
The base game, published by Titan Forge Games, raised over $682,000 on Kickstarter in early 2024 (more than 12 times its goal) and supports 2-4 players in sessions of 90-180 minutes. It's a proper 4X experience with area control, resource management, and player-driven economics that capture the territorial ambitions of New Eden. The expansion builds on that foundation by adding a late-game escalation layer: once Titans enter the field, the balance of power shifts fast.
The box includes 4 oversized ship models, 8 player boards, 28 acrylic cubes, and 16 new cards. Expect to pay around $50-60 at retail.
EVE Online has been running for over 20 years, and the board game held its first official tournament at EVE Fanfest in Reykjavik last year. If you're after a meaty space strategy game with proper miniatures and a sci-fi IP that suits the 4X format, this expansion looks like a strong reason to get it to the table.
