Zombicide is going full pirate, and it is the first time the long-running co-op zombie series has set sail under new ownership. Zombicide: Dead Men Tales, the debut Zombicide game from Fantasy Flight Games since Asmodee bought the franchise from CMON, blew past its Gamefound funding goal in 32 minutes and 45 seconds.

See how it worksFor anyone who has never been swarmed before, Zombicide is a cooperative miniatures game where a team of survivors works together to complete missions while holding back endless waves of the undead. Dead Men Tales trades the usual city streets for tropical islands and the open sea. You command crews of humans, orcs, elves and more, firing cannons, swinging from ropes and fending off zombies coming at you from every direction, including out of the water itself.
The handover matters because Zombicide is one of the franchises CMON sold to Asmodee in June 2025, as the troubled publisher stepped back from making new games. Fantasy Flight, now an Asmodee studio, has taken the reins, with the game designed by Jean-Baptiste Lullien and Nicolas Raoult. Backers also picked up extra goodies during the campaign, including a second volume of Black Plague comics and a Plaguebearer roleplaying game.
Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.
Start organising for freeThe campaign launched on 22 April 2026 and ran for three weeks, and reviewers noted the pledge structure was refreshingly simple compared to the sprawling all-in options CMON's Kickstarters were known for. If you missed the main event, the Gamefound page is the place to check for late pledges.
A new Zombicide is always a good excuse to get a horde of friends round the table. Rally your own survivors for the next game night.
