WizKids Cthulhu Mini Lands at $79.99 on a 100mm D&D Base

For the first time, the Great Old One has an official D&D miniature. WizKids has opened pre-orders on a Cthulhu boxed mini for D&D Icons of the Realms, a gargantuan figure on a 100mm base painted with an iridescent finish so the squid-faced horror looks permanently wet. The painted version is $79.99, with an unpainted Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures sibling at $69.99. Both ship in Q4 2026.

Scale-wise this puts Cthulhu in the same league as an ancient dragon or the Tarrasque, which is exactly the table presence the upcoming campaign book asks for. The mini is pegged to Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, the next big D&D 5.5 release on 16 June 2026, which casts Cthulhu as a Darklord of his own Domain of Dread, the New England fishing town of Innsmouth, straight out of Lovecraft. Mercifully for player characters, he's imprisoned in his domain and locked out of his true form, so a party isn't strictly doomed before initiative is rolled.

This is the first time Wizards has put Cthulhu on the official stat block, with the public domain status of Lovecraft's works opening the door. The sculpt itself is on the bizarre end of premium D&D minis. Eight wings, sharp spines, multiple tentacles and a semi-translucent head showing the brain underneath, less classic squid-god and more cosmic horror nightmare fuel.

If your group has been waiting for a proper end-of-campaign showpiece, this is one of the more dramatic boss minis Wizards has put on shelves. Worth pencilling Ravenloft into the rotation before your group starts something else.
