A 6mm sci-fi wargame nobody has played yet is quietly building a fanbase, and a Gamefound campaign is set for Q3 2026. Oasis: Tactical Salvage Reclamation is the work of Collins Epic Wargames in collaboration with Death Ray Designs, and it is currently doing the rounds at AdeptiCon ahead of its summer crowdfunder.

See how it worksThe hook is the setting. The Oasis is a pocket galaxy of around 100 star systems, sealed off by a closed wormhole, scattered with the leavings of vanished alien civilisations. Earth's corporations, never ones to leave a quid on the table, send paramilitary expeditions in to loot the place. Your tabletop battles are the resulting bin fights between rival corporate scavenger teams, fought without resupply or reinforcements from home. Designer Dale Eadeh has leaned all the way into the salvagepunk vibe, with hovering battleships as flagship models and magnetised turret joints so you can swap loadouts (and avoid snapping bits off in transit).
The aesthetic is what is drawing eyes in early coverage. The miniatures blend industrial, military and alien-explorer cues into something Wargamer compared to Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak crossed with a touch of Studio Ghibli. The lore copy on each unit reads like a grunt's annotated notebook rather than a corporate press release, which is a refreshing change from the standard "grimdark space marine" template.

Find events near youThis is unmistakably an indie project from a small team, so set expectations accordingly. The rules have not been published, fulfilment timelines for crowdfunders are the usual gamble, and 6mm sci-fi remains a niche within a niche. But for anyone who has been priced out of the bigger plastic-and-resin lines, or just wants something with a distinct aesthetic on their table, this is one to keep an eye on as the summer campaign approaches.
If you want to build a small skirmish group around it, start a wargaming community and share intel on conversions and paint schemes once the rules drop.
