Warhammer Open Hits UK at UKGE With Golden Tickets in Play

After running for years in North America and continental Europe, the Warhammer Open Series is finally landing in the UK. Games Workshop's official tournament circuit kicks off its UK debut at UK Games Expo in Birmingham from 29 to 31 May, with a second event at Newport's ICC Wales from 14 to 16 August.

The headline attraction is the Golden Ticket. Win Best General or Best Overall in any of the Grand Tournaments for Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, Kill Team or Warhammer Underworlds and you book your seat for the World Championships of Warhammer at the Fira de Barcelona from 3 to 6 December. Spain is hosting Worlds for the first time after three years in Atlanta, helped along by several top players publicly turning down their Atlanta golden tickets last year. The Barcelona venue is reportedly larger, and Games Workshop has promised more qualifier events than ever.

For UK gamers, this means you no longer need a transatlantic flight to make a run at the world title. Your UKGE ticket gets you into the wider expo too, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with around 80,000 attendances expected over three days and a special Museum of the Expo charting 20 years of UK tabletop history across 30 panels. Newport's slot includes hobby classes from top painters Albert Moreto Font, Katarzyna Górska and Erik Swinson.
