UK Games Expo turns 20 this year, and organiser Richard Denning is planning the biggest show in the convention's history. UKGE 2026 takes over five halls of the NEC plus the Hilton Metropole from 29-31 May, with around 800 exhibitors, 65,000 square metres of floor space and a projected 80,000 attendances over the three days (about 45,000 unique visitors when you strip out the people who turn up on multiple days). That puts it firmly in the conversation with Spiel Essen and Gen Con as one of the largest tabletop shows on the planet.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksThe 20th anniversary line-up leans into the history. There will be a Museum of the Expo, a 30-panel exhibition tracing the show's journey from its first home at the Clarendon Suites in 2007, through the move to the Hilton Metropole, the pandemic pause and the post-Covid return. A historical panel discussion is in the schedule, the official programme will carry anniversary coverage, and yes, there is a commemorative cake. Major sponsor Wayland Games is back with a packed stand of show-only deals, and the publisher reveal list is already filling up with North American debuts like King of Tokyo: Godzilla, Iello's first full Toho-licensed crossover, plus stand demos for Czech Games Edition's Wispwood and the latest from Dragon Shield's growing board game line.
The numbers tell their own story. 2007's first show drew about 900 attendees. By 2019 UKGE was hitting 39,000 across the weekend. The 2026 projection means the organisers are essentially packing a small town into Hall 1 to Hall 5, and the show floor takes a couple of days to walk in full.
