If you missed out on Blood Rage the first time around, or just want an excuse to charge into Viking combat again, Eric Lang's standalone sequel Blood Rage: Valhalla is shipping to backers this July.
Set after Ragnarok has already destroyed the world, Valhalla picks up where the 2015 original left off. Players take on the roles of Viking clans fighting for the favour of the gods in the afterlife, drafting cards, summoning mythic creatures, and battling for control of Valhalla's territories. It is an area control wargame for 2-4 players at heart, much like its predecessor, with new mechanics that expand on the original's formula.
The original Blood Rage, which funded on Kickstarter in 2015 through CMON, earned a devoted following for combining card drafting with aggressive combat and a satisfying "dying can actually be a winning strategy" twist. Lang has since designed Rising Sun and Ankh: Gods of Egypt in the same mythology-driven vein, along with co-designing Marvel United with Andrea Chiarvesio.
Valhalla is published by Tycoon Games (formerly Tabletop Tycoon), which acquired the entire "Godly series" of Blood Rage, Rising Sun, and Ankh from CMON. The campaign ran on Gamefound, and backers will be the first to receive the game when it ships in July 2026. Late pledges have closed, but a retail release is expected to follow.
If you need a crew to rage with, find a game night near you.
