Set up your group for freeOriginally created by Ken St. Andre in 1975 as a more accessible alternative to Dungeons and Dragons, Tunnels and Trolls was a pioneer of solo RPG play and rules-light dungeon crawling. The new edition is a ground-up reimagining by Scott Malthouse (Romance of the Perilous Land, Quill) and Chris Bissette (The Wretched), with campaign content from Gareth Hanrahan (The Black Iron Legacy novels). The core system modernises the original's d6 mechanics into dice pools: roll dice equal to your attribute, count every 4 or higher as a hit, and watch matching results explode into bonus rolls.
The setting has been rebuilt too. The sun vanished centuries ago, trolls destroyed civilisation, and magic was lost. Now the sun has returned, the trolls have turned to stone, and players explore the petrified ruins of a shattered world. Four books fund the campaign: a Core Rulebook with 12 playable Kindred and Folk types, the urban sourcebook Hazar, City of a Thousand Guilds, an introductory campaign called Cavern of the Petrified Throne, and a solo adventure called The Wailing City. Pledge tiers ranged from £30 for the digital bundle to £350 for the Ultimate Collector's edition, which includes a 24cm dice tower.
