The Sheep Hits Retail After Raising Half a Million on Kickstarter

The Sheep, a horror-comedy co-op about surviving waves of mutant sheep, is hitting UK retail shelves through Asmodee after raising over $520,000 from more than 6,100 backers on Kickstarter. The campaign funded in just 20 minutes, and Kickstarter backers have already received their copies.

Published by Zero Strategy Games, The Sheep puts 2-4 players in the boots of Shepherds, mercenaries hired to protect caravans as they cross a wilderness overrun by an unlikely threat. What drove humanity to the brink of extinction? Sheep. During the day, they look harmless enough. At night, they transform into monstrous creatures that come hunting.

Each session plays out across a series of encounters as your caravan moves between towns. The gameplay mixes co-op survival with character progression. Between encounters, Shepherds purchase equipment, level up, and gain curses that actually help them fend off the mutant hordes. The objective is straightforward: get all your caravans safely to the next town. In practice, the sheep have other plans.

The concept is wonderfully ridiculous, and the game leans into it. The box art tagline reads "DON'T LET THEM CATCH YOU SLEEPING," and the art style plays up the contrast between cute pastoral sheep and their nightmarish transformed versions.

The Sheep is now arriving at UK game shops through Asmodee's distribution network, making it easy to grab from your local store or favourite online retailer. If your group enjoys co-op survival games like Zombicide or Castle Panic but wishes they were funnier and woollier, this belongs on your table.
