A demon is loose at your table, and only some of you actually want to stop it. The Possessed is a dark social deduction game from Norwegian studio Two Starving Gnolls, built for the kind of big, rowdy group that makes hidden-role games sing.

Find events near youThe setup is pure paranoia. One player has been possessed by a demon. Some players are trying to save them, others are secretly working to help the demon finish its dark plan, and nobody is quite sure who sits in which camp. If you have enjoyed evenings of Werewolf, Blood on the Clocktower or Secret Hitler, you already know the appeal: the accusations, the bluffing, and the slow, sinking realisation that you trusted the wrong person.
Games like this live or die by player count, and The Possessed is firmly a party-sized affair that scales up towards a full table of around ten. That makes it less of a two-player filler and more of a centrepiece for a proper get-together, which is also why it pays to line up the numbers before you back it. If your usual crew is short a few bodies, you can find a group near you and fill out the circle first.

Set up your group for freeThe campaign is in its final days and edging towards its modest goal. At the time of writing it had gathered roughly 70 backers and about three-quarters of its 5,000 euro target, with the designers posting a full rulebook and an unboxing video to win over the last wave of supporters. It runs until 18 June, so a darker game night is only a pledge away.
