If your Star Trek Adventures campaign keeps stalling because the GM has to invent a Klingon admiral on the fly, Modiphius has good news. Allies and Adversaries, a new 128-page hardcover for Star Trek Adventures Second Edition, lands in July with stat blocks for dozens of NPCs and creatures across the Federation's friends and foes.

Set up your group for freeThe book costs $55 (around £41) and pulls together the major factions every captain runs into eventually. The Borg Collective, the Cardassian Union, the Dominion, the Gorn Hegemony, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Star Empire, the Tholians, the Breen and the Orion Syndicate all get coverage. Each entry includes Minor, Notable and Major NPCs, plus selected creatures and rules for cooking up your own.
Star Trek Adventures has been one of the steadier RPG lines in recent years. The first edition launched in 2017 on the 2d20 system, and Modiphius rolled out a streamlined second edition in 2024 to coincide with the wider Trek revival on Paramount+. The new sourcebook is compatible with both editions and the Captain's Log solo RPG, so existing GMs do not need to upgrade their core books.

Start organising for freeWhat sets this apart from a generic NPC dump is the encounter advice. Modiphius has built in guidance on balancing conflicts, deploying recurring antagonists and using NPCs as allies rather than just speed bumps for the away team. That should help with the perennial Trek problem of how to make recurring villains feel like more than stat blocks.
Pre-orders are open now via Modiphius's site and good UK RPG shops, with shipping pencilled in for late July. If your group has been wanting to run a proper Dominion War campaign or finally pin down what makes the Tholians tick, this is the book that justifies the next session zero.
