Spawns of the Mindrender Brings 600-Page D&D Epic to BackerKit

High-level D&D campaigns are notoriously hard to run, partly because most published adventures stop being interesting once your wizard learns Wish. Elderbrain Inc. wants to fix that with Spawns of the Mindrender, a 600-page dark fantasy campaign and setting for levels 11 through 15 that lands on BackerKit on 5 May 2026.

The book is compatible with both the 2014 and 2024 editions of D&D, and it drops parties into Vordan, a perilous mountain realm collapsing into psychic madness. The pitch is survival, exploration and tactical warfare in a hazardous sandbox, with branching plot threads that converge on a reality-warping threat called the Farrealm. Players can unite a fractured nation, claim ancient artefacts, or just try to keep the world from cracking apart, depending on how they read the room.

The headline guest is Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms and arguably the most-name-checked living D&D author. He's writing an exclusive encounter location for the follower rewards programme and joining the live launch party stream on 5 May. That alone is the kind of detail that sells follower-tier add-ons quickly.

Elderbrain has run polls on subclasses, dungeon style and follower rewards for weeks, which is a healthy sign. Pledge tiers will run from a single hardback to a four-book full series with VTT files, premium accessories and digital extras, although exact pricing only goes live with the campaign.

If your group is sitting on a tier-three party with nowhere to take them, this is worth a watch. And if you've got a level-11 game waiting on a regular night, organise it on Backseat Gamer so you actually get to that 600th page before 2027.
