Satchel Quest Is the Cascadia Team’s Bag-Building Crawl

The team behind Cascadia and Calico has a dungeon crawler out, and as of today you can pre-order it. Satchel Quest, from designer collaborative Flatout Games, opened retail pre-orders on 23 July, and it swaps the usual miniatures and map tiles for something cleverer: a bag you slowly build into an adventure.

In Satchel Quest, 1 to 4 players explore an ever-changing dungeon by drawing tokens from a bag, filling it over the game with equipment, spells, monsters, traps and treasure. Every draw is a push-your-luck decision as you chase powerful combinations and race to earn the most Valor. It plays in roughly 45 to 60 minutes, suits ages 10 and up, and comes with cover art by Vincent Dutrait, one of the hobby’s most prolific illustrators.

The pedigree is the draw here. Flatout Games is the collaborative behind Cascadia, one of the best-loved gateway games of recent years, and the cat-and-quilt hit Calico, so a bag-building crawler with their name on it is worth a look for anyone who likes an approachable engine with real decisions. It first appeared as a 2025 Kickstarter; this week’s news is the wider retail edition, letting people who missed the campaign get a copy through their local shop.

The retail pre-order is priced at $54 and is expected to ship in autumn 2026. If you like the sound of a lighter dungeon crawl you can teach in a few minutes, it is a strong candidate for a learn-to-play night. Line one up and see who near you fancies a delve.
