Riot's tabletop card game gets its third set in less than a year. Riftbound: Unleashed launches in English-speaking territories on 8 May 2026 (China gets it slightly earlier on 10 April), bringing more than 220 new cards, three new keyword mechanics and a top-tier rarity that will have collectors checking every booster carefully.

Find events near youIf you missed Riftbound's launch last summer, it is Riot's two-player tabletop TCG where you draft Champions like Master Yi or Jinx and battle for control of Battlefields, much like a faster, more focused take on Magic. The headline Champions in Set 3 are Master Yi, Diana, Vi and Pyke, all built around what Riot describes as "hidden strength and patient transformation." The new mechanics back that theme up. Hunt earns you XP when your units conquer or hold battlefields, XP itself acts as a fresh resource you spend on powerful effects, and Ambush lets you trigger reaction plays when battles kick off where you already have units. If you've been playing since Origins launched last autumn, this is the deepest mechanical shake-up yet.
The set's collector hook is the new Ultimate Rare card type, which appears in fewer than 1 in 1,000 packs. Unleashed has exactly one Ultimate Rare and it's, fittingly, Baron Nashor, the giant worm boss every League player has lost a game over. There are also more than 30 alternate art cards, the now-standard prerelease kits at local stores, and a fresh draft format for tournament players.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksFor UK players, this is the third set in Riot's plan to make Riftbound a serious player in the TCG space alongside Magic, Lorcana and Pokemon. If you've been waiting for an entry point, the new starter products and prerelease events from 1-7 May at participating shops are aimed at newcomers. Riftbound's organised play scene has grown fast, and this is a good week to walk into your local game store and ask what they're running.
