Quartermaster General West Front Caps Ares WW2 Trio in Late 2026

Ares Games has confirmed that Quartermaster General: West Front will land in the second half of 2026, completing the publisher's two-player Front trilogy. For wargamers who've been waiting for the puzzle pieces to click together, this is the big one. West Front is the third and final entry in the series, and it ships with the rules and components needed to combine all three games into one massive table-spanning campaign.

If you've not played the Front games, they're the sleek two-player versions of Ian Brody's Quartermaster General WW2, which uses card-driven supply, recruitment and combat across asymmetric national decks. East Front (BGG rating around 7.7) covers the Soviet meat grinder, South Front handles the Mediterranean and North Africa, and West Front now picks up the Allied push through France and the Low Countries. Each plays in around 90 minutes solo, but stitched together they form a 23-round saga from autumn 1939 through to spring 1945 with one player commanding the United Kingdom, United States and France against an opponent running Germany, Italy and the Pact powers.

The combined-game angle is what sets this apart from yet another WW2 release. Most card-driven wargames lock you into one front. Ares is essentially handing you a modular grand-strategy set that can scale from a 90-minute duel to a full epic depending on the table. If you've already got East and South Front sat on the shelf, West Front turns the pair into a proper trilogy.

No firm UK retail price has been announced yet, but the previous entries land in the £55-65 range through Ares' UK partners. With UK Games Expo coming up at the end of May, expect demos at the NEC. If you're heading to UKGE, see who else is going and rope in a wargamer for a learn-to-play.
