Pokemon TCG Chaos Rising Lands on 22 May with Mega Greninja

The Mega Evolution run in Pokémon TCG keeps rolling, and the next stop is Chaos Rising, out Friday 22 May. The set takes the story back to Lumiose City, the setting of this year's Pokémon Legends: Z-A video game, with Mega Greninja ex and Mega Floette ex pulling most of the early attention and Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex filling out the chase list.

Chaos Rising sits in the small-set slot of the release cycle at roughly 120 cards, which is the same footprint as March's Perfect Order expansion. The full breakdown is five Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, five standard Pokémon ex, 11 illustration rares, 18 ultra rares, and six special illustration rares. As PokeBeach notes, that's the fourth small English set in a row, which has a few competitive grinders grumbling but makes learning the meta a lot easier for newer players.

The prerelease weekend kicks off on 9 May at participating independent retailers, giving organisers a fortnight to run build-your-own events before the set hits shelves. Pre-orders are live at UK stockists including Magic Madhouse alongside Walmart and the Pokémon Center in the States, with early coverage from Wargamer. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box includes 11 boosters plus a stamped promo exclusive to that SKU, which is the usual route for collectors chasing completion.

See how it works

For anyone running a league, Chaos Rising lands just as summer league season warms up. Mega Greninja pairs naturally with Fezandipiti ex for multi-Prize knock-outs, and the compact card pool makes it a genuinely approachable set for returning players.
