Chris Perkins GMs a Daggerheart Charity Campaign Starting 28 April

Critical Role and Darrington Press are launching a four-session Daggerheart actual play this Tuesday, and the kicker is that viewers can pay to twist the story. Realms of Valor kicks off on 28 April with Chris Perkins in the GM seat, every donation routed to Gold Star Gamers, and the campaign's final showdown literally written by community money.

If the name Chris Perkins is new to you, he's the longtime D&D story architect who ran Acquisitions Incorporated for years, designed Curse of Strahd, and shocked the hobby by leaving Wizards of the Coast for Critical Role's Darrington Press in 2025. This is his first proper full GM run on the Daggerheart system, which only just had its Class Packs hit local game stores on 21 April, so timing is bang on.

The format is the genuinely interesting bit. Four Tuesday-night sessions on 28 April, 12 May, 19 May and 26 May, all 6-8pm PT (that's 2-4am UK on the night, but the VODs will land sensibly on Gold Star Gamers' Twitch and YouTube). During and between each session, donations through Tiltify unlock new NPCs, magical items, adversaries and even the form the campaign finale takes. Outcomes still play out organically at the table, but the community gets to load the dice.

The party is led by Diana of the Rose with KP Upadhyayula, Linsay Rousseau, Amy Vorpahl, Desiree Rincon and a Gold Star Gamers representative named Sydney. Gold Star Gamers itself is a US non-profit supporting kids who've lost a military parent, using competitive gaming to keep them connected.

If your group has been hesitating to try Daggerheart, this is the perfect prompt. Watch a session, then organise a one-shot for your group using the new Class Packs. Few systems get a launch run this fancy.
