Good news if you have a box of Underhive gangers gathering dust: Games Workshop is putting Necromunda into a brand new edition, and everything you already own still works. Sunday's preview on Warhammer Community confirmed a new Core Set and updated rules across the board, along with the promise that "all of the existing miniatures are fully compatible with the new edition."

You run a handful of named fighters rather than an army, and the good stuff happens across a campaign, where gangers level up, pick up injuries and occasionally die in a way that actually stings.
The new Necromunda Skirmish: Core Set pits eight House Escher gangers against eight Goliath bruisers, all brand new miniatures, with a new game board, a broken pipe terrain set, the full Core Rulebook, Gang Tactics and Campaign Scenario cards, and the usual pile of markers, templates and dice.

Set up your group for freeThe practical question for a lapsed player is what it costs to keep going, and the answer is two books. Keep your gang, buy the Core Rulebook on its own, then add one of the two new gang books. Gangs of the Underhive covers the six Houses plus Palanite Enforcers, Venators and Corpse Grinder Cults. Gangs of the Outlands handles everyone living rough outside the hive, from Free Ogryn and Genestealer Cults to Ironhead Squat Prospectors and Ash Waste Nomads. There are also Underhive Crew boxes for each of the six Houses, each with roughly 16 to 20 miniatures from existing kits plus a House-specific weapons and upgrades set. Games Workshop did not give a pre-order date in the reveal.
A separate campaign and scenario card pack is the part that matters most. Necromunda has always been better as an ongoing story between friends than as one-off games, and a new edition is the natural excuse to get a group signed up. If you are pulling one together, start a community and sort the fixture list before someone's Escher gang loses a leg.
