Its latest spin-off keeps that friendly dice-chucking but throws out the theme. In Machi Koro: Life, you're not building a town, you're building a life.

Start organising for freeDesigned by series creator Masao Suganuma, Machi Koro: Life keeps the familiar engine humming. Each turn you roll one or two dice, trigger your blue, red and purple cards, and collect "hearts" that act as the game's currency. Instead of spending them on train stations and shopping malls, you buy Life cards to fatten your engine and Dream cards worth points. The first player to bank eight dream points has, the game reckons, built the most fulfilling life at the table.
The game first appeared in Japan back in 2023 and has sat around 7.2 on BoardGameGeek since, comfortable gateway territory. The news for English-speaking groups is that Pandasaurus Games is finally bringing it west, with the English edition landing on 19 August 2026 for around $29.95. It plays 2-5, ages 10 and up, in roughly 45 minutes.
