Good news for anyone who's been trying to find a copy of Lords of Waterdeep at a sane price: Renegade Game Studios is reprinting the 2012 D&D worker-placement classic this month, along with its Scoundrels of Skullport expansion. Zatu confirmed the April 2026 retail date, with the core game at $55 and the expansion at $40 USD, according to ICv2.

Start organising for freeDesigned by Peter Lee and Rodney Thompson, Lords of Waterdeep sits at an average 7.68 on BoardGameGeek across more than 28,000 ratings, took the 2013 Origins Award for Best Board Game, and picked up a 2012 ENnie Silver for Best RPG-Related Product. Players take on the role of Waterdeep's secret rulers, sending out agents to recruit adventurers, complete quests, construct buildings, and occasionally drop an Intrigue card to spoil a rival's plans. The Scoundrels of Skullport expansion adds a sixth player slot, a corruption mechanic, and fresh buildings and quests.
What makes this reprint worth flagging is how well the game has aged. Fourteen years on, it's still one of the cleanest worker-placement teachers in the hobby, strategic enough to reward planning but never punishing enough to crush a new player. It's the sort of box that turns D&D-curious friends into actual board gamers. The Renegade version is a faithful reproduction, same cover, same classic D&D logo treatment, no gameplay updates.
