Dead by Daylight Board Game Gets Solo and Co-Op Modes

Dead by Daylight: The Board Game is getting something fans have wanted since launch: the ability to play without needing a full group. Level 99 Games and Behaviour Interactive have announced the Auris Box, a major expansion heading to Gamefound on 16 June.

The original game (rated 7.2 on BGG) nailed the asymmetric horror of its video game source material, pitting one Killer player against a team controlling four Survivors in tense cat-and-mouse matches. The catch? You always needed at least three people at the table. The Auris Box fixes that with three new play formats. Survive Alone is a dedicated two-player mode. Survive Together lets a team of Survivors face an automated Killer in full co-op. And Kill Alone flips the script, letting you hunt four automated Survivors by yourself.

The expansion also adds a new Killer (the Houndmaster), a new Survivor (Taurie Cain), two new maps, and a storage solution designed to hold your entire Dead by Daylight collection in one place.

The timing lines up with Dead by Daylight's 10th anniversary celebrations. Behaviour Interactive is hosting a major live event in Montreal on 14 June, two days before the Gamefound campaign opens, and the whole summer is shaping up to be a big moment for the franchise.

If you have been eyeing this game but could never round up enough players, the Auris Box removes that barrier. Whether you are playing solo on a Tuesday night or bringing it to your local game group, the entry point just got a lot lower.
