King of Tokyo Godzilla Gets Its English Debut at UK Games Expo

King of Tokyo: Godzilla, the long-awaited official crossover between Richard Garfield's dice-chucker and Toho's kaiju catalogue, made its Spanish debut at Mega XP in Mexico City over the weekend, and the English version is heading straight to UK Games Expo at the NEC on 29 May. UKGE attendees will be the first English-language audience on the planet to play the thing.

See how it works

The line-up is everything a Godzilla fan would want: Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and the underrated Hedorah, all rendered as figures rather than card standees. Underneath, it is still King of Tokyo. Two to six players, around 30 minutes, six dice rolled up to three times for points, energy, healing or attacks. New Event cards now affect every monster at the table, swinging turns in unpredictable ways, and Evolution cards give each kaiju a small spread of monster-specific abilities.

For context, the original King of Tokyo sits at 7.2 on BGG with over 96,000 ratings, and remains one of the most reliable gateway games for newcomers. The Power Up expansion introduced Evolution cards more than a decade ago, and Iello has been chasing licensing deals that would justify a fully themed version ever since. Toho clearly took some convincing.

After UKGE, the rollout heads to Asia in June and the United States at Gen Con in August before hitting wider retail. If you are heading to Birmingham, this is one of the few new releases you can definitively only get to play at the show, so find your group and add it to your demo list. UKGE 2026 runs 29-31 May at the NEC, and you can see who else is going.
