Invincible RPG Lands at Gen Con With Year Zero Combat

If watching Invincible left you wanting to throw the punches yourself, Free League has you covered. The studio behind the award-winning Alien roleplaying game is releasing Invincible - Superhero Roleplaying, launching on 30 July 2026 at Gen Con and in hobby shops shortly after. It runs on Free League's Year Zero Engine, the same six-sided dice-pool system behind its tense sci-fi horror games, so expect fast, bruising fights where tough choices and consequences matter more than four-colour invincibility.

The game adapts Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley's comic, the same blood-soaked superhero saga that became a hit animated series. That pedigree matters here. Free League has been named a fan favourite publisher several times over, and its Alien RPG took the gold ENNIE for Best Game back in 2020, so a grounded, brutal take on capes is very much in its wheelhouse. It plays 2 to 5 and is pitched at ages 16 and up, which tells you how closely it hews to the source material's tone.

Two ways in are on offer. The Starter Set hands you six ready-to-play heroes, including Invincible, Atom Eve, Rex Splode and Monster Girl, plus a three-act introductory adventure called Metro Mayhem. The full Core Rulebook, a hardcover with the PDF bundled in, opens things up with dozens of superpowers and a big roster of established characters to stat out or fight. There is even a solo Crisis Mode for playing without a Gamemaster.
