Hitman: The Board Game Funds in 30 Minutes on Gamefound

Agent 47 has crashed Gamefound. Hitman: The Board Game, the official tabletop adaptation from IO Interactive and Danish publisher MOOD Publishing, hit its funding goal 30 minutes after the campaign opened on 30 April and is still racking up pledges through 30 May 2026. If you played the World of Assassination trilogy on PC or console, the pitch is what you'd expect: 1 to 4 agents drop into iconic Hitman levels, scope out targets, and try to pull off the cleanest kill before another player gets there first.

The base game ships with four locations and eight targets pulled straight from the video games, plus the modular sandbox setup that made the digital version replayable. Disguises, distractions, accidental fatalities involving fish tanks. All in there as card-based mechanics. Average game length is around an hour, which keeps it firmly in board game territory rather than the 4-hour miniatures slog you might expect from a licensed adaptation. Executive Producer Rasmus Nautrup Jensen described the design as 'fun, creative, and highly addictive' in the announcement.

MOOD Publishing know what they're doing with licensed video game adaptations. Their previous title, Deep Rock Galactic: The Board Game (designed by Ole Steiness), is a 1-4 player co-op cave crawler from 2022 that holds a 7.5 on BGG and has spawned multiple expansions. Stretch goals on the Hitman campaign have already added a Berlin expansion, a Hitman Legacy Targets pack featuring returning faces from older Blood Money and Contracts games, double-layered player boards, and an Elusive Gift Box that grows in content as more backers pile in. Anyone who follows the campaign before launch grabs a free 47-Hour Coin.

With Hitman: World of Assassination still pulling steady player numbers on Steam in 2026, MOOD has a ready-made audience that already understands the assassination puzzle. Whether the cardboard version captures the satisfaction of dropping a piano on someone is the open question. Backers will find out when fulfilment lands. If your group fancies a heist night, find a board game community and pencil in a session for delivery week.
