Hellbreak TCG Pits Universal Monsters Against Each Other This October

Dracula, Jaws, and the Bride of Frankenstein walk into a card game. That is not the start of a joke. Hellbreak, a new trading card game from Spin Master and Ghost Galaxy, pits Universal's most iconic monsters against each other in sandbox-style turf wars, and it was the most buzzworthy game at GAMA Expo 2026.

Ghost Galaxy is no stranger to ambitious card games. The studio was founded by Christian T. Petersen, the founder of Fantasy Flight Games, who later acquired the KeyForge IP and its groundbreaking algorithmically generated deck technology. With Hellbreak, Petersen's team is building something different: a horror-themed TCG where two monster players send minions to fight over locations, trying to break through each other's defences and drain the opposing monster's health.

Gameplay revolves around a central Vault where your monster pulls the strings. Players collect resources before deploying minions, playing events, and attacking rival lair locations to seize control. It is resource management meets monster-movie mayhem, and the demo decks at GAMA (Dracula vs Jaws) had retailers buzzing.

The Universal Monsterverse licence gives Hellbreak a roster most TCGs would kill for. Dracula, Jaws, and the Bride of Frankenstein are confirmed for launch, with more IPs planned for future sets. Ghost Galaxy and Spin Master have not yet confirmed the distribution model (boosters, starter decks, or something else), but they have hinted at expanding well beyond the classic horror catalogue.

Hellbreak launches globally in autumn 2026.
