See how it worksThe box pits the Brotherhood of Steel against the Institute with 20 plastic miniatures: eight Brotherhood troops (including a Knight and Paladin in power armor, field scribes, and regular soldiers) and 12 Institute models including synths, scientists, and a Courser. A 106-page rulebook covers all four Boston factions, with rules for the Railroad and Minutemen included even though their plastic kits are still to come.
The headline addition is a full power armor modification system. Players can spend parts to outfit crew members in power armor, then upgrade it with specialist plating, shielding, and boosters. The Institute, by contrast, throws waves of disposable Gen One synths at objectives and uses Synth Relay Grenades to bring fallen units back into the fight.

Find events near youFallout Factions has been a sleeper hit in the skirmish wargaming space. The original Battle for Nuka-World starter earned praise for its campaign progression system, where crew members gain experience and scars across games, making each match feel like a chapter in your own Wasteland story. Battle for Boston doubles the cardboard terrain and addresses earlier feedback about faction variety.
Alongside the starter, Modiphius is releasing four separate core box sets on 14 May, with a new core rulebook following on 6 June, giving each faction its own standalone entry point.
Pre-orders are live now on the Modiphius website. If you've been curious about miniature skirmish games but wanted something faster than Warhammer, Fallout Factions is worth a look.
